Ballistic door frames, tested to UL 752 Level 3

A security door section and a security frame section were tested to UL 752 Level 3 by Close Focus Research. Openings go up to 4 feet by 8 feet, with a lead time of 12 to 16 weeks.

What the ballistic frames give you

Avalon's ballistic frames are aluminum door frames built for openings that need bullet resistance.

Tested to UL 752 Level 3

Close Focus Research tested a 12 inch security door section (5 shots) and a 12 inch security frame section (7 shots) on February 11, 2023, with a .44 Magnum at 15 feet. Neither sample was penetrated and neither showed spall. Both passed.

Tested in-house to Level 7; third-party certification available on request.

Sizes and lead time

Openings go up to 4 feet by 8 feet (a 4080 opening). Lead time is 12 to 16 weeks.

Fits your wall

Custom wall sizes go up to 16-1/2 inches, with a 1-1/2 or 2 inch profile. The aluminum is 0.062 inch nominal, increased to 0.130 inch at anchorage.

The test reports

The Ballistic Frames page has the test reports and the section details. The reports are numbered BTR-02-11-2023-20230102-Sample 1 (door section) and Sample 2 (frame section).

The section details show the frame jamb with 3/8 inch bar stock supplied by Avalon, in a 6 inch deep frame. The Resources page also has the Ballistic Test Results.

Close Focus Research, on February 11, 2023. The samples were a 12 inch section of a security door, 1-3/4 inches thick, hit with 5 shots, and a 12 inch section of a security frame, 1-1/2 inches thick, hit with 7 shots. Neither sample nor the witness plate was penetrated, and there was no spall. The reports are on the Ballistic Frames page.
